These fantastic fish live in the main reservoir on the farm and I have been trying to get this shot for the last four years. On this occasion I was photographing the game keeper fishing when this 15 pounder started leaping right in front of us. I grabbed the long lens and for the first time guessed the exact spot where it would leap out next.

John- I do not know if it is a regular trait for the common carp but the larger ones in this spot leap out quite a lot. They were introduced as tiny babies by the keeper so maybe they do not know that they they are carp
I have them do this for hours but never had a camera.... just like trying to get salmon on the Ribble... Well done Bob, you should sell it to a fishing mag!
Not exactly sure why they do it but I think it has something to do with cleaning the gills. This one is also heavy with eggs from the looks.
