You can really see that the lack of snow will be felt later on this year. That fall should be screaming, shouldn't it? It's been several years since I've been at almost that same spot and it's not easy to balance yourself on those rocks. I wish we could see the falls right above this one but the terrain does not allow for it. I like the comp and if I could add my own two cents....maybe a little more contrast and brighten the trees/rocks a hair? Marble is a great place to shoot, just don't tell everyone.:)
I think this is known as Mitchell Creek Falls and also as Coors Falls.
Can you share the data on this photo? Length of exposure, ISO, etc.? I'm new and would love to capture a shot like this, but every time I try I end up with the image being over exposed. Thanks!
The photo was taken with a 5D Mk II, 24-105 @ 40mm
ISO 100, f16 1/13 exp
Also, this is a 2 shot blend. info above for the falls and surrounding frame. 2nd exposure for the sky.
Beautiful, Richard! I really like how the falls are framed by those trees.
Really makes this one work well. Nice job on the blend, too.
You might consider darkening the bits of stone that are interspersed within the tree branches on the right edge.
Sweet falls, Rich! I guess it's 'Disagree with John Day' cause personally i'd crop the top portion--the branches up top distract me and the CA is bothersome. Otherwise i like it!
Beautiful waterfall beautifully captured! It's really all about the falls in this one, therefore I'd darken the lower left corner some, as it pulls my eye a little more than it should. I see what Stan's saying about the crop too, though if you can clean up the CA a little I think it's fine compositionally.
I like how the trees and branches seem to form a circle around the falls as you presented this image already. I wouldn't make any crops. The image appears a bit flat color-wise (a consequence of all those gray rocks probably) and I wouldn't mind seeing just a subtle increase in the saturation of the trees, sky and water.
Hi Richard, I like the comp for the most part. I can do without the low branches, but they don't kill it for me either. I do however find it a bit flat, so looks like I agree with Josh a bit.
Hi Richard, I agree about the image could use a bit more color. Ive shot this falls before and there's some nice reds and greens in that wall of rock on both sides of the falls. Although you would have to a little closer to really take advantage of the textures and colors of that rock wall.
BTW, this is Milton Creek Falls, not Crystal River. Just so ya know.
