Cool shot Scott. The sunlit meadow makes a nice contrast to the flatirons in the shadows. The foreground rocks make a great focal point to the image, with the flowers complimenting them nicely.

I also like how the a couple of the rocks somewhat mimic the shapes of the flatirons!

This is a great shot. There is something about the composition that sort of rubs me the wrong way. I have stared at the shot for a good 10 min and can't figure out what it is. Maybe I want less sky and more of the rocks, I'm not sure. None-the-less, its a great shot. And it is great to see the flowers coming out!!!

Nice shot, Scott. Looks like the Golden Banner is starting to bloom. Yesterday's rains should only help that causue.

Nice image, Scott. The warmth & composition of the rocks make for a very pleasing pic.

Well done!

Scott - looks good! Thanks for sharing.

I do not remember seeing those rocks in the past. Something to look for in the future.

Scott - very nice. I bet in a couple more weeks the grass will be greener and more flowers will be out. I think the aspect ratio may be bothering Michael. Sometimes the 3:2 ratio can be a little tall for portrait orientation. I often feel like I want to see a little more on the left & right with this aspect ratio. I'm guessing you shot this with a fairly wide angle? You might want to consider tilting the camera down a little more and coming in a little closer to the rocks & flowers. I do like the angle you've taken and how you've positioned the rocks and Flatirons a lot.

Thanks for the comments. I shot this on a full frame camera (5D) + 17-40L lens at 20 mm?. I can see how being closer to the rocks would help.

Sweet shot, Scott. I like the lighting on the rocks. Flowers should be looking even better soon now that we've had a little moisture recently.

IMHO - All in all a nice shot... carefully composed, decent light.... shows great effort and really conveys "the photographer's intent".

But I'm not crazy about how centered everything is, it's quite static, without a lot of room for eye movement. I'm going up, down, up, down (and not in the fun way).

Might have been improved by introducing more "tension" in the frame... rocks off center, maybe toward the bottom right corner, maybe even bleeding out of the frame, with more open grass and flowers to the left? The composition might further be improved by more use of the shapes and lines.

Intersting how "balance" in a shot can often be achieved with things being out-of-whack from one another.

Anyway, a nice shot and thanks for sharing it!!
