Yes, it is. That is my main landscape/portrait lens on the 7D. Any lens works on the crop cameras. It is when you go to a full frame camera that the EF-S lens don't work.
Rob is correct. Works with all cropped factor cameras including your 7D, but not with any full frame camera's like 5D's.
It is a great lend, It would be and L lens if it wasn't only for cropped cameras. I call it L lens with no red ring, I love it.
