Whitethroat
Hello everyone, many thanks for the comments and advice on my last image. This image of a Whitethroat was taken on the same trip, again it's an environmental image. I was amazed at how vocal these little birds are.

Canon EOS 7D
Sigma 500mm f4.5 EX APO HSM
Tripod
f4.5
1/1600 sec
ISO 400
Processed in Lightroom 4 and CS4

Nice Whitethroat but for me it doesn't work well unfortunately. Too much blur and I find the background rather restless on my eye. The light also seems rather harsh.

Super setting Paul, but I do have to agree with Rene here, it is not quite working... You don't say if it is cropped or not, but perhaps a little closer crop placing the bird in the upper left hand third and lose most of the more neutral toned out of focus stuff bottom right... A little work with the shadows and highlight sliders with a gentle adjustment of contrast will work wonders with the 'harsh' light...

Agree with the previous comments. Perhaps a landscape crop would remove some of the OOF plants.
