D7000 500mm f4 ISO 200 1/640s at f6.3 resting on bean bag
Came across this confiding bird whilst driving along the river Garva yesterday. It was stood not far from the shore and allowed me to approach to the waters edge and take this shot whilst lay flat on the ground with the lens on a beanbag. I had taken other shots knelt up but the water had too many highlights so the BG here is the opposite bank. All C+C warmly welcomed and thanks for the comments on my last post.
Super... in a great setting... perhaps the blacks could be decreased just a tad, I have a feeling they could go a little darker and still retain detail.. it is only a very small amount mind... one of the nicest Oystercatcher images I have seen...
Hi Nick, I think our replies have crossed in the ether, mine got held up as I have just been informed the Tawny chics are out on one of my patches, so gearing up for next week fingers crossed, anyway...
The RP is better, but have you applied lightening the blacks overall as the whites look a tad hotter, or is it an old pair of eyes? The low POV is perfect, although would have preferred the hint of the three tips not in view.
Very, very sharp pic Nick and good low point of view too. It does look a touch washed out in the first post and to me the repost is in the right direction but still not quite there.
