On the Upper Terrace
One of the best features along the Upper Terrace Drive at Mammoth Hot Springs in Yellowstone is Orange Mound Spring. It is very active with a nice covering of orange bacteria. Combined with the textures its very inviting for photographs.

As always I appreciate any feedback. Thanks for comments on my last image.

Very nice Dean. I love the Mammoth area and find the bacteria form the springs one of the most interesting places to shot. The color and texture in this are terrific.

This is one of the best geyser/hotsprings images I've seen in a while.
Instead of a happy, sunny Yellowstone shot, this appears dark and somewhat dangerous.
Love the foreboding skies and the sense that the dark cloud in the center seems to arise from the bowels of the spring.
I happen to like the dead tree very much as it adds to the starkness of the image.
I can hardly believe that someone suggested cloning out the forested ridge center right.

I concur with John. The skies really create the character of this image and create a nice dark blue contrast to the yellowish terrace. Sweet photo.
