Lunchtime snack
I have spent a lot of time on the hobbys in recent days, and am beginning to get what I wanted. On the main picture I am posting the hobby is about to grab a mayfly, that you should be able to make out in the top right hand corner of the frame. ON the second shot I am adding another hobby is busy eating its lunch.

It is a shame about the dull sky, but somehow I think an apparently white background works here.

Thanks for looking.

David

Hi David,

Two stunning images there of what is a beautiful falcon. With this weather it's hard not to get anything other than blue skies ! I hope I can get some images of these over the summer.

Regards

Rob

Stunning birds these - personally I hate photographing anything against the sky, you've done well here in what look to be pretty contrasty conditions :toast:

Hi David, I think I prefer the second one, but only marginal. I would extend the canvas on the second one to, easy to do, as the subject is a tad tight within the frame. They look like big crops judging by the IQ, did you lighten either of them too? I would increase you ISO to give yourself a higher SS, but would also increase the DOF also, although you would be back to square one again, so just up your SS.

David

Two outstanding images although I prefer the second if I had to select. Difficult subject too. I had intended trying for Hobby's but just not been able to locate any so far.

Like the second one best, if only the light would have been better but you can't have it all I guess!
