The meadow master
The main target for my trip to Belarus was the Ruff. There were (the first 3 days) thousands of them near the Prypjat river. The male Ruffs were constantly doing their thing to impress the ladies, just like this fellow.

I did not clone out the oof birds...for a simple reason; the males only display in groups, so cloning the oof female birds out would (in my opinion) devaluate the image.

Taken from hide with Nikon D4/Nikon 600VR/tripod

Good picture Rene.
I haven't seen them the last years here in Holland doing there thing. I only saw them eating.
I'll place a picture soon on NPN.

A stunning bird that I have only seen from a distance in Norfolk and the display is something I've not witnessed before :toast: :toast:

HI Rene

A great image I particularly like the out of focus reeves around the male, it helps tell the story very well

Great to witness and even better to photograph. I agree it would have devalued the image to remove the OOF birds.

I agree that the females need to be in. Great shot of a behaviour I have read about, but never seen.

Very nice Rene. I've not observed these birds before and this is a great capture. I agree that leaving the OOF females in shot was the right decision. :toast: :toast: :toast:
