Banded Demoiselle (female)
1Ds2 + Sigma 150/2.8 OS, tripod mounted
ISO400, 1/60 @ f8
Lightroom 4
Slight crop....

Hi,

Have replaced my faithful but old and not too well 180/3.5 with the latest Sigma 150, today presented a good opportunity to take it out and test...

We came across this very obliging female Banded Demoiselle...

All in all I believe I am very pleased with this lens.. it is sharp, compact and although the OS was turned of here as I was tripod based it will come in useful, in fact I was using the OS earlier on a monopod and it sure worked well.

All the best

Phil :wavey:

Nothing wrong with that lens judging by the larger version, Phil.

Phil

A terrific start and the detail in the large version is something else.

Phil looks like it really does produce a cracking image.

Grand job Phil.
Wish I could afford the OS version. I may swap mine as I begin to tremble more.

John... OS/IS/VR becomes less effective the closer you get simply because the 'vibration' the system is trying to compensate for is also magnified, a good tripod/monopod technique is far more effective...

Speak soon....

I'm surprised to see these Phil given how late everything else seems to be this year. Pin sharp and lovely lighting. I'm a big fan of my older (non IS) Sigma 150.

Great stuff Phil - brilliant detail in the large version. I've got that lens too - just need to get more practice with it by the look of this !!!
