I enjoyed the eclipse with a view of New Mexico's other big volcanic pillar, Cabezon Peak northwest of Albuquerque. It was really nice being so far east on the eclipse path. I shot throughout the event of course, but I'm really not sure I can get anything out of my earlier frames. But as the crescent sun sank towards the horizon, things started coming together. I thought about doing this one from a single frame, but decided to blend in some better foreground detail from a longer exposure. These were 1/160 and 1/1250 at f16, ISO 100, 300mm on a crop sensor. Other than the blend, processing was just white balance in ACR, a bit of dodge and burn, and a little saturation tweak.

10 repliesThere's another version from a single frame on my blog. It's also pretty fun to have shots of last December's lunar eclipse from the same location.
Very well done!
