Eclipse and Rock Art
Like many of y'all I went out for the eclipse on Sunday. After having seen the track putting in close to the horizon in west Texas and New Mexico I decided to go to the Lost Mesa area of New Mexico and try to get the eclipse with rock art. I was in Florida the first part of last week, got home Thursday afternoon, unpacked, repacked with camping gear and was on the road at 5am Friday morning.

I was not sure if the shot I envisioned would work but here is what I was able to make with it.

See the longer story and another image on my blog

It certainly is an interesting combination of elements Darren. I like the cooler tones throughout and the ancient rock art provides a neat foreground for the setting sun.

Wow! Cool shot!!!! It would have been really neat if those rocks had a drawing of the sun on them!!

Thanks. I was not sure if it would work out and the blending to get a Blue sky and not black sky was tough. But this kinda worked.

cool take on the eclipse, the rock art makes the shot unique.

Nicely done, Darren, and what a great idea for the image. I've always had a great appreciation for all things really old, like this artwork. It adds a whole other dimension to a great scene. :toast:

Great story on your blog. This image is unique in that you used the rock art and the sequence of eclipse images. You did a good job on the processing.

Thanks all. I think the rarity of the event was something to see. This eclipse certainly gave me some ideas for future possibilities even if it is five years out.
