New Adobe Camera Raw is Impressive
Every time a new version of Adobe Raw comes out, I go back and see if I can pull anything more out of some of my older raw images. Usually there's not much improvement, but with the latest Adobe Camera Raw, they've really pulled out all the stops. This is an image taken in 2006 with the Canon 1Ds II, not known for extreme dynamic range. I blew out the sun and most of the sky surrounding haystack rock (in Cape Kiwanda).

With the new Adobe Raw, I was able to recover a lot of the sky and come away with a respectable image. I've reworked several other shots and am really impressed with the results. I can get suns that actually look like suns! If you've updated Camera Raw, you should really try it out on some older, problematic raw images.

Cheers,
David

I have noticed the exact same thing with LR 4, which uses the same raw processing engine, it really is crazy how much better highlight recovery is.

I assume you're talking about an update for ACR in CS6 and not the ACR 6.7 update for CS5 released on May 1st?
