Been a long time coming
Water Vole.
I only ever photographed one years ago in captivity. I last saw one over 30 years ago. After a lot of hard work and a very helpful landowner I finally made it ! This animal is one of the only small group left in Worcestershire. I got several "posers" ( not quite like Vera from Cromford canal), but I liked this one as it shows the habit , hole and everything. It was after a 4 hour wait behind some camo.
The light was terrible- the animal at the hole enrance in shade and the bank veretation coming forward on the left in full glaring sun.
Its taken hours of toning down leaves and highlights. Some had to be cloned out. I got fed up in the end so you'll find a few gaffs.
Anyway it'll do me and I hope to carry on all year with these delightful creatures.
D7000 Sigma 100-300 f4
contrast full down in camera
160th @f8 800 ISO
About 80% full frame.
Various treatments in Paint Shop Pro(Nearly everything !! )
Cheers
Thanks for the comment on my previous pic- appreciated.
