Small P. B. Frittillary +recrop
First this year .Taken quite late on last night. Would welcome crop suggestions on this one - taking thirds into account etc. You have to get these just at the right roosting time.
D7000 Sigma 18-50mm
800 ISO 60th @f11
70% of frame.
Not much else,
Forgot to add noise reduction- get crop right first.

I think what makes this shot for me is the background, you get a great idea of the habitat and yet the butterfly really pops out from it. I think it needs to be in portrait format with a bit cropped off the left. It will leave that single blade of grass on the right, but I could live with that.

Thanks David
I was actually thinking that way (honest ! )
Is this too much you reckon?

No, it works nicely as far as I am concerned. What do others think?

I also prefer the repost John. It works well and looks almost 3D.

Love the re-post JR and as already mentioned it looks 3D-ish. The BF is really sharp and has lots of detail whilst still showing it in its habitat.
