I consider myself so fortunate to have been able to spend six days in Italy observing and photographing visiting species that were on my to do list. Well worth the 1600 mile round trip drive.
The location was some 5KM from Bologna so the earthquake was an added experience. Large numbers of hard working struggling families were badly affected.
I posted my previous image from Italy and thanks for the comments.
This is my flight version with the bee I struggled somewhat to keep pace with the birds as their flying manoeuvres are so rapid.
Canon 1D3 1/4000sec ISO 800 f/4.5 Canon 600mm RAW to Light room 4 re-sized to post.
A good try and a bird I would love to photograph... exposure looks spot on here, however your point of focus appears to be closer to the wingtip meaning the head and most importantly the eye is unsharp... appreciate that it is a very difficult image to get, a smaller aperture could have helped, maybe f8, you would still have maintained a good shutter speed, you may also be able to increase the ISO to get an even smaller aperture, I know Frans mk3 is very tolerant at high ISO as long as you get the exposure right....
A very good effort on a speedy bird. I agree with Phil on the f8. I use the centre point with suround point assist for small birds like this as it is virtually impossible to get the single point on its head
Just the pointers I need in fact I do have a few sharp results but I now have a better idea of why I had such a difference in the results. More examples to come if that's OK and please give me a nudge in the right direction it all helps.
