Damselfly
Thanks for the comments on my last image.

My first post on here for a little while; just finished exams so I should have some more time for getting out with the camera again. Here's one from yesterday. I had gone out with my macro lens in the hope of finding some damselflies as it was fairly cold and there wasn't much wind. While I was setting up for another damselfly, one landed on a grass head in front of me with prey, so I quickly changed subject!

Techs:
Nikon D300s
Tamron 90mm f2.8 Macro
Tripod
F10
1/200s
ISO 800

Nice one Oscar, a teneral Blue Tailed I believe with a rather good meal...I quite like the fact that the grass flowers are partially hiding your subject...

BTW you have a couple of rather larger dust bunnies, bottom just left of centre and lower left hand side... hope the exams went well...

Thanks for the comments and ID Phil. Hmm, those dust bunnies are a pain. It would seem that they got in when I was trying to remove another one, and I never managed to remove it!

I had no idea they ate stuff, figured they died too quickly. Brilliant.

Nice one, Oscar. Technically excellent apart from the nit already mentioned.

Thanks for the comments. Graham, I'm afraid I don't know what the prey species is. Someone told me that they thought it was a Robber Fly

All been said Oscar this is a great image of a damsel with its prey, not always easy to get shots of. Goes to show how big the prey is in relation to the damselfly. Who needs lions and wildebeest!

Nick. PS Good luck with your exams!

Superb Oscar. The prey looks like a snipe fly perhaps. Very nice capture! :toast: :toast: :toast:
