I ran across a group of bull elk in a meadow near a parking lot in RMNP last week. I jumped out an starting to shot away when all of a sudden they started to walk straight toward me. This bull elk stopped no more then 20 feet from me and looked around, and I grabbed this shot at about 113 mm on my zoom lens. This is about a half frame crop.
Nice sharp capture and light on his face. I really like the detail in the velvet. The partial elk on the LH side is a problem and the background is busy, which happens when we're working quickly with shorter lenses.
