JR was out of town so I convinced a friend of mine to head up to Lake Isabelle. When we got to the Brainard Lake area, we found that the road was not open to the trail head, so our 4 mile hike turned into an 8 mile trek (the road opens on 6/15 ). It was one of the best day hikes I have had in a long time! The weather was perfect and there were only patches of snow to negotiate. As you can see it was a beautiful day up there. The way back was a slightly different story as the storm moved in and the sky opened up within sight of our car. Overall a fun day!
All C&C welcome on this midday shot!
Beautifully done; the kind of image that makes me wish I was there. Great mid-tone detail, shadows on the water are the perfect accent for an excellent composition.
Nice shot Anne. Agree with Dough on image composition & details!
Love that area; did a snowshoe trek in February at Brainard Lake Rec Are in 18" of fresh powder, with my F-Stop pack stuffed to the gills (~35#). Made for a fun (though long) day. Burned a lot of calories that day.
I had heard the road was still not open all the way. June 15 is approaching! :D
This is a really good midday image thanks to the interesting light. 'Development' is spot on, too.
For the sake of a more symmetrical balance, I would have liked to have seen more on the left, and cropping as much sky as you're comfortable with would be an asset, IMO.
I wonder how this would look in b&w?

Looks like you did a good job of keeping the highlights in check with the sunny conditions.
