For my macro/close up work I've been using the Manfrotto 322RC2 head, but I've lately been unhappy with how it tends to drift a bit, and a little awkward to frame up. I've read some good reviews on the 410, so I just ordered this head from B&H. For those of you who have it, was wondering what y'all think of it. Any caveats I should be aware of? Thanks for the input.

Hi Bill- You had an excellent idea to buy the 410 geared head, in my personal experience (410 Manfrotto is the only head I use for macro shots) it's perfect in all respects (precise, sturdy and it has just the right weight)- You'll be surely very happy about that Italian piece of gear- Best wishes, Fabio

Hi Bill, I have had the 410 head for about 10 years, It has been a great asset for close up work. I use it with the Manfroto micro slide for fine adjustments. Pete :wavey:

I just bought this a couple of weeks ago and really like it Bill..It will take some getting used to of course.
You can make very precise adjustments when composing your macro frame. But you have to use it awhile as I said..There are three knobs to play with..And if you're in a hurry it can get fun

I've been using one with my 4x5 for about 5 years or so. Love it.
