Thunderstorms on the Front Range
I love photographing lightning, and I was treated to an amazing display over the last few nights along the Front Range. On June 6th, I was outside Wiggins, CO and then shooting the Denver skyline afterwards when there was a tornado warning for a few minutes. So much lightning, it somewhat resembled a strobe light. The next night, we were outside of Greeley and got chased away by golf ball sized hail. After the hail and rain subsided, once again an awesome light show commenced!

This was taken near Milliken, CO on the night of June 7th. I think I damaged my 17-40mm f/4L lens though, when we were scrambling to get back to my truck I dropped it and busted the lens cap. I briefly checked it and there was no apparent damage. It wasn't until I looked at the photos later than I noticed there was a ton of odd noise that needed to be cloned out.

5d2, 23mm, f/4, ISO 100, 30 secs.

Very nice image. Yep, just last night I was looking out a window at these huge lightning storms. I tried to capture some bolts through the window, but this pic tops mine by a long shot! Too bad about your lens... :frown:

I heard I missed a great lightning display. None-the-less I got the tornado south of Denver. More storms tomorrow, looks like Limon area.

That is one amazing shot, Ryan. I love the town lights on the left, the road and the lightning. They come together just right for my taste. Way to go.
