Fort Collins Sunset/High Park Fire
I know some images have been shared, thought I'd add a few more. Our house was in the smoke last night, I slept in the basement guest bedroom to get away from the smoke smell. Looks like my favorite hiking and biking park Lori state park is burning today.

Oh my... I was sitting, looking at that smoke stack all day yesterday. Wow---that's too bad about Lory State Park (not to mention homes around that area). Was one of my absolutely favorite areas to hike and photograph. Looks like you have quite the view of all this. Hate to say, but the smoke creates uniquely 'beautiful' colors, as you captured.

I agree about losing Lory St Park to the fire. It was my go-to mtn. bike area. But it does seem insignificant compared to all those losing their homes.

I'm so sorry about the devastation.I don't know Lory Park but I'm sad for the loss of nature and wildlife. I'm saying a prayer for cool rainy weather, stamina for the fire fighters and protection over peoples homes, and lives. BTW, The second picture is hauntingly beautiful, nice capture. Blessings, Deb

Its a shame that such nice photos originate from something so destructive. :frown:

Heard recently that terrorists have been instructed to set fires out west as a new tactic to continue to destroy our economy and way of life. Any reports on the news of this being a possible cause? You'll have to forgive me- my real job is in emergency management and homeland security so I tend to be a bit more attuned to these types of threats (some would call it paranoia!).

Amazing pics, David! Now it looks like another state park (11 mile) is about to be consumed by another mega fire down here (cant even see Pikes Peak through all the smoke...) With all the beetle kill and extreme drought, wed better get a big monsoon quick or there aint gonna be anything left by the end of the summer...
