With this policy, I'd certainly have second thoughts about cloud computing as a main backup.

Any time you let your work out, digital or physical, you run a risk. A few months ago I put several hundred dollars with of cards and small prints out on consignment to a shop that is now closed. The owner says I will get my unsold work back plus payment for any that sold but I haven't seen anything yet. Cloud storage is convenient because it is off site without having to copy to HD and then take the HD somewhere else but any work I stored in the cloud I would have another backup of under my own control.
To me, the issue is more than just having another copy of my work where I can get my hands on it. It really speaks to the callous disregard that both the government and large companies have for the individual and his property. Where is government "of the people, by the people and for the people"? Oh wait! I remember. The "people" are those with the money and influence.
Sorry! I get so easily distracted. I believe that we were talking about photography.

With all the hacking, malware and spyware out there, I prefer to retain as much control over my 'stuff' as possible.
