Fri night/Sat morning Eastern Colorado run
I ventured out Friday night and Saturday morning to Eastern Colorado. Here's what I got. CC welcome as always. Thanks, Josh.

"Winds of Change"

"Moody Morning"

"Great Wide Open"

I like these a lot. Hard to pick a favorite. Probably "Winds of Change" or "Great Wide Open". Prarie house seems a little to dark on the house.

What Lance said with emphasis on "Great Wide Open" Love the lines in that.

I love the twilight colors in #1 and the expansive feel of "Great Wide Open".

"Nobody's Home" gets my vote hands down. After that it is a tie for absolutely exception. Great shots.

I think all of them are great, how can anyone not like windmills and wheatfields. The last 2 are my favorites.

"Great Wide Open" is friggin sweet! How far east did you have to go for these.

"Praire House" and "Great Wide Open" are my favs. Good series! Makes me want to explore the eastern plains more.

Josh,

Outstanding images of Eastern Colorado. Made me homesick since I grew up in Burlington.

Where were these images captured?

Wow, thanks everyone for the overwhelmingly positive words and feedback. Always good to know that some very talented people like what you are doing.

FYI, the first two are right off the interstate just north of the Agate exit. East side of the interstate, can't miss them. Exit at Agate and take the immediate road that goes north off the NE corner. Half or maybe 3/4 a mile north? Really, you can't miss them. The windmill in "Winds of Change" is the same one in "Nobody's Home".

The "Prairie House" is a scene I shot last year, but wanted to take a crack at it with the D800. :) Straight north of Kit Carson, I think 16 miles. West side of the road. Another can't miss it, sits alone out in that field.

"Moody Morning" was about a mile north and a little east of "Prairie House"

Finally, "Great Wide Open" is 11.5 miles south from the Bethune exit, then 2 miles west, and maybe a half mile north. So yeah, SW of Burlington.

I went scouting for things during the day on Saturday, I had never really been between I70 and I76. There is some interesting terrain out there.

Thanks again! :wavey:

Josh, just stunning images. Strong comp, color, processing, and most of all, excellent conditions. You nailed It. I'm on an island here, I like Moody Morning best. I just love the sun rays splitting the clouds. You really get a sense of a storm breaking up, and the calm after.

I may have to hit you up an a tour out there during monsoon season!

I also like each and every one of these images. All show the isolation of the Great Plains very nicely.
If I had to just pick one, it would be Moody Morning, with everything else a very close second.
It's real nice to see this side of Colorado depicted so well!

Josh,

On your next exploring trip, take I-70 east to the Bethune exit then go north on Kit Carson County Road 40. Starting about 8 miles north of Bethune and continuing you will come to a general area known as "The Settlement". The early inhabitants were mostly German immigrants as well as some Russians. A lot of interesting structures including old churches.

I love Great Wide Open. Perhaps you could brighten the foreground a bit and add a little saturation (also to the fg) to give a glow.
