Razorbill
It's been far too long since I've had a chance to go and photograph these lovely birds - this is one from back in 2009. Taken on the trustworthy old 1DII, with 500/4 & 1.4xII, ISO200 1/500s @ f/8 ev-1/3. Probably handheld, but can't be 100% sure (sign of age ).

I really do need to try and dig back into the wildlife shots more... life seems to have managed to get in the way too much recently :frown:

Enought space for the text if you ever bring out a book ;) Like the framing to be honest and the look you got.

Nick

I've never had sight of a Razorbill to date. A super example with great detail.

Stunning image Nick and the close up really allows the beak detail to be seen.

Wait 'til you get to my age - memory loss is welcome because it makes you forget about all the other functions you lose

Nice one, Nick, although I agree with John about the positioning.

The comp works for me, with the strong diagonal running perfectly through the eye. Top shot, Nick :toast:
