Hey everyone. I hope everyone is enjoying the great weather as of late. So, I know we have a wildflower thread, but I feel like that should be more for reports rather than questions....and I have a question! So, has anyone seen any sunflowers come up yet? Is it still too early? Any tid bits of info would be great! :toast:

I have not seen any and I think its very early. Sunflowers are a midsummer flower and crop.

I might be wrong, so I'll let others chime in. I'm sure the plants are sprouted by mid may, but I typically remember seeing them in the ditches from July 4th weekend through august.

Mel's right. If you're talking about the fields of sunflowers in the nearby farmland, I've had my best luck around late-July to early-August. The other sunflowers I've shot have been at the Sand Dunes, and those have been around Labor Day.

Geez Jon, just because the sunflowers won't be up, that doesn't mean you should leave the state! :jump:   Just kidding!!

I have to concur with Brent and Mel here. The few times I've shot whole fields just north of the metro area, it's been early August.

Where are you headed to?

Here's one from a few years ago! Sunflowers

Well, I'm a CU student, and I'm graduating this week!!!

I'm sticking around till June to take my LSATS, then I'm driving back home (Miami Florida) to leave my car there. And then I'm off on my trip. I'll be gone for 6 months or so. When I get back I will be deciding on where to go to law school. My top choice is Lewis and Clark in Portland. So, yes, I will be leaving the beautiful state of Colorado, but I might be going to another incredible region. I can't wait to shoot some sunsets on the coast!!

Sweet Jon, congrats on the graduation this week!

Yeah, I'd say Portland is a pretty good choice too! High on my list of cool spots! Best of luck in it all!
