This may not be the appropriate forum, but just wanted to wish all our members in forest fires areas of the west, good luck and hope you will not be harmed. And of course for all of those folks in danger from these fires.

Same here, and entirely appropriate John.

If anyone want to "follow along," this website is frequently updated and is an excellent portal into extensive resources for more info on wildfires all around the country.

Hank,
That's a great website. Thanks for posting it!

You bet Greg.

To elaborate with an example, a fire started earlier this summer near our place in CO. Nerve-wracking, to say the least, especially from so far away.

The resources at the site let me watch the fire's progress on google terrain maps with each update, as well as track all the official announcements. Thankfully I learned quickly that it was burning away from our place. I can't imagine how hard it would have been to track that detail without the site as a portal.

InciWeb is great.

We should give a heart-felt thanks to the fire fighters, volunteer and paid, for their unwavering efforts.

InciWeb isn't complete as to Alaska Fires. For Alaska, go to the Alaska Fire Service web site.
