Having been to Ramona Falls in late summer and fall, I've had on my list to return earlier when the rhododendron were possibly blooming. I was able to do that yesterday, and enjoyed hiking the loop (actually a lollipop)to the falls.
The rhodies were very nice, especially in the far half of the loop; I'll post a shot or two in the future. It's easy not to notice how many there are when they are not blooming. Unfortunately, the nice misty weather cleared by the time I reached the good stuff, and I didn't take any more rhodie photos once the sun was out. (Note to self, if this trail is ever foggy this time of year in the future, return!)
Another nice feature of this area is how thick the moss can carpet the forest floor in areas. It will look better later in the season, but is quite attractive even now. The contrast of the yellow moss with the greener vegetation on the far shore caught my eye.
I really like your two-tone color contrast here, John. Very well done. Ramona Falls is on my to do list. What time of day was this taken? What time of day is best for the falls itself and what direction does it face?
