Dog eat Dog !
Spent a pleasant time yesterday "meadow mooching" with my son Steve, Phil H, and Fran , here in Wyre.
We had all just done a golden ringed when a different dragonly flew towards Steve . Then right above his head it took a demoiselle in full flight and landed right in front of him,, and proceeded to enjoy the spoils. Turned out to be a Club Tailed ! -good enpough in its own right. This is about two miles from their breeding site in the Severn.Didn't know they ate their own sorts !
Great stuff. Much snapping of shutters as you can imagine.

What a superb image JR! Club-tail and B Dem in one picture AND on a great perch! Fandabidozy!! Up to your usual very high standard JR. Very, very jealous!!

The stretch of water where I go to see the B Dems is sometimes littered with their wings and when I first saw this I wondered what did this and it turned out to be a Golden-ringed dragonfly who use the stretch of water as their beat.

Wonderfull picture John. I know they we're a kind of cannibales, but I've never seen it.
I only see them eating flies and musquitos.

Naughty Club-tail, I'd let it off it was munching on a Common Blue, but a Damoiselle   I hope you gave it a stern talking-to John

Super action capture :toast:

Interesting shot, must have been a very hungry dragonfly yo tackle something that big.

that must have been an interesting encounter John. I'm normally happy just to see a demoiselle, let alone one being eaten by a Club-Tailed! Nicely captured too, it's pin sharp throughout.

An excellent piece of photography, JR. The Club-tailed is one of my favourite dragons so I'm very envious to say the least.
