Looks like you nailed this one! I understand wanting to do something different with a scene like this like you attempted in the last one, but the light in this ultimately just makes this image easier to look at and appreciate. So much has been done in nature photography that it's hard to reinvent the wheel, but I think it's still worth the effort.
Yet again, Grant conveys my own feelings well. It looks like you used your new optimizing technique here, but to much greater effect in this scene. Whatever it is you're doing in the 'darkroom', I like it.
However, a strong image like this works primarily due to good composition, light and plain ol' talent, which cannot be substituted by any 'development' techniques..
I much prefer this image to the first. Softer light, the greens glow more, added lupines, and the eyes seem to be channeled deeper into the image due to the border/framing trees.
Perhaps tone down the brighter light on the left tree a tiny bit but keep its accenting, and the bright spot in the middle rear. The trees do have the distortion lean that your first image controllled well.
I definitely prefer this one over your previous forest scene. Your previous post had too many shadows and highlights for my own taste but this shots looks just right. Thanks for sharing.
