I haven't been out much lately; well actually in the last 6 months. Today I grabbed the camera and headed to the Peaks ..
This one made me chuckle..
The brown colour is peat run off after the rain - its quite topical at the moment given its acidity, acidity that potentially killed the tree. Another legacy of our past that will out live all that read this. The tree - defiant to the end.

The DOF is deliberate to hold your attention on the stump.
180mm/Tpod
F11/1.6sec/100ASA
no crop, USM and a bit of tweaking
3 shot HRD
Super image Tom... like it loads... (I can see a crocodile in there) This is great use of HDR, the look is natural, The highlights are always the first to go and I am guessing the compression was quite high to get this within the limit...
Only minor nit which is on the processing side is it appears a little over sharpened & it appears the image was sharpened after the border was added but that really is being picky...
h'mm those tell tale white lines eh... You are right as I have a feeling it may have also be double sharpened as (on the way out) I have a generic sharpen and web save routine for quick web images.
