I recently visited North Yorkshire, and allowed myself a day and a half to photograph red grouse, a species I had not photographed since 1975. We arrived early and spent a quick hour on the moor that afternoon. This picture is from that session. Just as well we went then, as for the remaining day and a half it did nothing but rain
Thanks for looking.

It is a great shot and my only nit would be it is a tad cold...but perhaps considering the weather not a nit at all. I will have to get back at some point, is it the North york Moors?
my first thought was the same as Neil's, that it would benefit from being warmed slightly. Other than that, very nice. This seems to be a summer when you have to grab your chances between wind and rain!
Hi David, good to see you up and around this area and the subject is on a fairly unobtrusive BKG, as there as been quite a few controlled burns leaving that horrible white stick habitat. Nice to see the legs visible too. Would agree on a slightly coldish look & feel and by dropping the Blue you should get a slightly better feel, however adding some selective saturation to the bird does help also. Depending on your thoughts, might be tempted to remove the rock bottom LH corner.
David its a very nice Grouse the second slightly warmer image is better in my opinion,i do think that the weather that we have had you have done very well to get as good an image as this at all.

Nice to see a grouse that isn't surrounded by purple mush. Reminds me of the famous whisky advert, in fact I can almost hear the music! The slightly warmer is better but the bird could probably take a little more.
