A small Drilling company wants to use one of my images for their letterheads, equipment, etc. and I'm not sure where to start as far how much I should charge for use of the image.. does anyone have any ideas?

Use for letterheads and other corporate identity items would be one fee. Use for other uses like corporate literature would be a separate fee. Use for mailers and other forms of advertising would be yet another fee. FotoQuote might be helpful for you. It pays for itself pretty quickly at under $200 for the software license, and it has a lot of helpful coaching text about how to negotiate, what to expect in terms of process, and how various industries work.
