I love the cool mountains and the color green, but I belong to dry places and savor their offerings. Living equidistant from the mountains and the desert often makes my choice as simple as a coin toss. Tails brought me to NE Arizona, where the monsoons are providing some much needed rain, along with colorful and dramatic skies.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated as always.

I love the mood.

The white alteration zones lining the fractures are certainly unique.
I've never seen it so well developed.

Oh, Mumaw! Extraordinary shot, John. And, thanks, now I have a craving for a dipped cone from DQ!

I've always wanted to visit this place. The colors and patterns in the rocks are very interesting and given the right sky some amazing images can be made here such as this one. Did you have to have a guide here?

This is a really beautiful photograph. I love the contrast between those unique formations and the brooding sky.

Thanks for sharing, John.

As usual, I don't have enough superlatives to describe this. John, if you ever need a pack mule I'd be glad to schlep your gear around just to see some of these places.

Stunning image John - in addition to the comments above, for me the sharpening and contrast on this seems just perfect.

This is a fine image indeed. I wonder what the image would have looked like if a few differing exposures were blended together? Don't necessarily mean a full blown HDR image, but one that would bring out a bit more brightness and detail in the darker areas of the rock.

We can always count on you to find some unique locations and excellent comps to illustrate them, well done, again!

I love that part of that canyon with those criss-crossing patterns. And talk about a killer sky. Cool shot!
