A Westham supporter????
Amid the rain and prevailing SW winds on top of Beachy Head I found what I suspect is a little know bubble blowing species no idea of ID.

Canon 350D ISO 1600 and that was an an error couldn't read the LCD just way too small 180mm macro f/8 1/1000sec.

Critique, Comment and Advice always most welcomed and thanks for looking.

Macro not my thing Barry and neither is butterflies  However it looks smart enough to me if a little large in the frame. Also I would clone out the blade of grass top left as it takes the eye somewhat.

I'd agree with Bob re the position in the frame.
Its a Skipper by the way.

Barry like Bob never tried macro but you certainly do get some great detail.

Good detail Barry and I like the BKG with it's slight variants. If you have it, a bit more image below would help and if you are unease about cloning the bright streak, then just crop it, it won't hurt.

Nice one.

Super detail and BG Barry although I'd have gone portrait to lose that stalk top left.

Have you applied any NR given that the high iso has introduced a little noise ? :toast:

No idea what it is but I like it

Hi Barry...looks like a Small Skipper. A portrait comp would have been the way to go with this as the butterfly is almost vertical and this would have given it more room underneath it and less room to the sides. Its a bit noisy and I suspect the web comp hasn't helped either but it is a great shot of a lovely little butterfly...bubbles and all!

Your best macro shot to date IMO, just needs a touch more room around the Skipper :toast:

I agree the image needs a bit more room, but other than that a good looking macro shot. :wavey:

A lovely macro shot with plenty of detail. It looks like small skipper to me as well.

Thank you once again for the comments and advice it's all most helpful and really appreciated.

I removed four dust spots but I backed off of the large clone requirement, I really can mess those tasks up big time with little effort.

Within Light Room 4 I applied NR but there again I wasn't sure of the amount to apply. I tend to have difficulty seeing the result of any adjustment if that makes sense so I tend to go more rather than less.

Providing more space worked well and is an improvement. Going in closer also added a surprise result we were being watched..

West ham supporter now there is a rareity  I would have shot portrait but apart from comp, the shaprness etc... look good, the ISO what can you do? I shot a flock of lovebirds in Zambia at ISO 2000 as I forgot to turn it back after messing around over a fire and a few beers the night before, we all do it  :toast: :toast: :toast:
