Hi everyone! I am very excited to announce that I placed 1st in the youth category of the 2012 Birds As Art international photography competition! The image is of a merlin perched nicely on an old post just a few hundred yards from my home...I posted an earlier version of it here this winter. We forgot to save a smaller version after re-processing the image (sorry!) but if you click "View Larger Photo" above you can see the picture.

My sister Marlise and I also had an additional five images place in the top-10 in the contest! We are both very excited!

I would like to give a HUGE thank you to fellow NPN member Carol Nichols for letting me know about the contest and encouraging me to enter it! Without you I wouldn't have won!

If any of you would like to see the winning image and other winners you can go here.

If you would like to see the top ten public voted images including both mine and my sisters you can go here .

Sorry for not announcing this earlier...my dad's been bugging me to share the good news!
