NPN member Rohn McKee passed away Sunday, July 9, while doing what he loved best - photographing the mountains and birds of Idaho and Wyoming. He was the epitome of a kind and gentle soul and his love of nature, all of it, was profound. As was his love of photography.
I met Rohn through NPN and he became a cherished friend of both Mia and I. Though he lived in Idaho and we're in Utah he would often come down to photograph at Antelope Island and Farmington Bay. We would make plans to meet him there and it was pure joy to spend time with him.
This photo of Rohn on the left, myself in the middle and Ron Bielefeld on the right was taken last year at Farmington - four NPN'ers enjoying each other's company in the field (the fourth, Mia, is taking the picture).
Rohn had such a wonderful smile, I always looked forward to the next time we would see him at Farmington Bay and Antelope Island, his love for nature & birds was clearly evident and he was a joy to be around.
I'm glad he was doing what he loved most when he passed away.

Very sorry to hear of Rohn's passing, his great smile speaks a thousand words as to who he was..
I'm sure he will be sorely missed.
Especially so by all that knew him as well as you did Ron & Mia.
Very, very sorry to hear this and for your loss of your friend, as well as the loss to the NPN community. My thoughts and prayers to his family and friends. God Bless.
I remember when Mia posted this image and how much fun it looked like the group was having.
RIP Rhon. Your friends and family will surely miss you.
Neil
My sympathies to you, Ron and Mia. It's always hard to lose a friend. And my sympathies to Rohn's family. He didn't post often, but his work was quite good. I especially admired his Pine Grosbeak shot a while back.
Sad to hear this, and I'm sorry for your loss, Ron.

very sorry to hear this. I didn't know Rohn like you guys did, but will certainly miss him here. I remember this picture well--it sure looks like you guys had a great time together.
Although I only met him once in person, we conversed several times on NPN and privately. He was a great guy and I will miss not being able to shoot with him again or discuss all the great things nature photography provided us. Although we spelled our names differently we pronounced them the same and deep down believe we were the same in sprite. Rest in peace Rohn
Wow--im very saddened to heart this! Just a few months ago, Rohn purchased a print from me, said it would 'inspire him to go out and shoot'. I was flabbergasted--and honored that he would make this request. I always looked forward to seeing his posts in the galleries.
RIP, friend!
