In regards to my post on the flora gallery on 7/5 entitled Gentian---
David nailed it. I returned yesterday and found the same plant and indeed the other blooms that were out had just 4 petals and this a 5 petaled bloom of Green Gentian or Elk Week. I did some reading on the plant today and found that these plants typically will live 30-80 years. They will bloom once and then die. There were lots of plants blooming so if I want to photograph this species again any time soon I had better go back next week and get it done.

Thanks for doing a follow up. Some flowers just don't read the field guides.
