Hello there!
i'm planning to buy this lens !
now i have samyang 14mm f2.8G , it is excellent lens and has very wide angle - 116 '. IVery sharp and perfect for landscapes, but i can`t use filters on it ! So, a`m thinkink to buy the nikon 16-35 f4 and leav the samyang for stars (night) photography, aurora, and more others thinks where i dont use filters... And use nikon for sansets, long exposures, for the twilight, keep it like an main lens.
Do, any have used the nikon 16-35 ? Have seen a lot test on internet, and some of thems are good, some are bad.
On dpreview says that corners are very soft, but photographers who using saying that it is excellent lens, and only 14-24 can be better !
I'm curious , what folks on NPN can advice about this nikon lens ? all comments and advices are appreciated !

I too am curious about that 16-35mm, and I haven't been able to find one in a local store to try out.
JuzaPhoto website has some good photos taken with the 16-35 mm. I am about to rent one.

I have this lens and it's a bit of a love/hate relationship. I don't have a problem with soft corners. It is a very sharp lens, certainly my copy is. What I dont like about it is the distortion at the wider end. I know this is correctable but my processing skills suck.

Here's a couple of photo's taken using this lens,

I have a friend who has purchased a D800, and was happily using this lens on his D700. With the increased resolution of the D800 it has become apparent to him that he will need to upgrade. This is an excert of his correspondence to me :"The not so good news is that my 16-35 f4 is sharp in the center quite soft on the left hand side of the frame, and somewhere in between on the right hand side. This is when shot at f4 or 5.6. Sharpness improves at f8, but edges are still softer than the centre."
Hope this helps

I use the 16-35 on the d800 as the main lens for most of my work. The 14-24 has taken more of a aurora-machine role...

My copy of the 16-35 is sharp from corner to corner and the distortion doesnt bother me at all since i do 99,9% landscapes where distortion isnt an issue... I use it mostly from f11 to f16 and it performs really well.
