Same pond at dusk
Kane, your request is my command! I started shooting an hour before sunset and got some really nice cloud action. Then as usual, the clouds almost left the area right at sunset but I still managed this one. Used some lab color, TK masks, a little LR magic and a very small hint of a vignette which I learned from Joseph Rossbach.

This trip is getting expensive...first, a damaged lens and last night I cut a tire coming down from Stony Pass.....sheesh!!!!

Sweet image - I really like how the grasses add texture to the reflection. Sorry to hear of your costly misfortunes. :frown:

Oh, I like this much better, Jack. That magic hour light makes so much difference. Gorgeous light and color. I don't know if you can park close to this pond, but the only way your comp could maybe be improved would be to get on top of your vehicle (ala Ansel Adams) to move the mid-ground trees down below the mountains, for a more clear view of them. Still, a fine image as is, Jack.

Yeah, this craft is too dang expensive at times. :jump:

Not even close for me. The light is a bit nicer here, but your earlier wider version just has so much more to offer.
A much nicer foreground, the visible peaks and the the light on the foliage, The brightness of the clouds really grab the eye strongly in this version.
Looks like great place to spend the night!

That's really well done Jack! What a great view and great clouds!

Much nicer light on the clouds and peaks. Maybe some more contrast added to the trees on the backside of the pond?

The skies and relfected skies do appear to have a strong cyan bias.

I agree about the cyan. I think the vignette brings out additional cyan too. If you like the cyan then keep it, or try cooling down the white balance. It may be a bit too warm when I see yellows in your greens. Again it's a personal taste thing. Then use selective color to bring out the reds in the lighting in the clouds and mountains. Also try pulling out some of the greens in your trees with..selective color/greens/ reduce magenta.

Yeah the light is more dramatic here, but I prefer the comp in the first one. I tend to agree with John and Kane about the cyan.

Killer shot, Jack! It's a busy composition, but works great and gives the eyes plenty to explore.
