For those who may have an interest, the North Cascade Highway opened on Monday (May 1). Further, if you make the trip in the near term you may want to check out the Dogwoods which are blooming (seems early) along the river on your way up (you can get the iconic overhanging dogwood/flowing water image everyone else seems to have, which nonetheless sells well).

Simon,

Can you give a milepost number for that shot? Just kidding!

Thanks for the heads up!

On a related note, does anyone have any idea how long it takes for Upper Tipsoo Lake to melt after the 410 opens? I'd like to try a few sunrise shots when the lake is really full and there is still snow around.

It depends when 410 opens. Upper Tipsoo will probably be melting around early July this year, so likely about the same time the road is cleared.

Thanks Marc. I'll swing by in June to check it out to plan appropriately.
