Adult & Juvie ID Please?
Was heading home today and saw this pair high up in a tree, right in the bright sunlight. I wasn't sure what to think at first, pretty far away, and 300mm does not get me too close.

I'll post three pics, but I'm certainly thinking adult & juvie Common Raven by the shape of the tail and colors, though the sun is deceiving.

Thanks for your help, and sorry for the distance/crop!

he beak looks too thin for raven - how about the more expected American Crow?

I thought that at first Richard and wasn't even going to stop. But I thought the tail looked a bit different. And the juvie??? IDK, my first (and only) other thought was raven. Thanks!!

Having owned a pair of juvenile, formerly named White-necked Ravens ( now termed Chihuahuan), that grew up into adulthood, I would have to say, these do appear to be ravens.

However, Bill, as you didn't give your location, I won't venture to distinguish between-C. corax or C. cryptoleucus

ps are you able to put a 1.7 or 2.0 TC on the 300mm? that might help "reach" for them. (-:

American Crow, Bill. I've posted a Common Raven so you can compare the bills. Note the Raven's bill is thicker, much larger, drops in a sharp curve at the end and that it doesn't end in a point.
