Few Birds from India
Took a week vacation from the crazy schedule that I am having this year and went to India. I always like the monsoons since everything around looks so green .. had my 70-200 F/4 with me and took a few shots. Your c&c welcome as always.

#1 Blue throated barbet with lunch - provided a larger version

#2 a common jungle babbler

#3 a brown shrike (perhaps, not so sure) and the water hyacinths ..

Correction : confirmed from my friend that this is a plain prinia and not a brown shrike.

#1 is my favorite here, excellent composition! Would like to see more feather detail on the bird, but the direction of sunlight created a high contrast situation where stronger fill light from a flash would have been helpful. A flash would have also put a highlight in the bird's eye, always a plus for bird photography! But usually with birds you only get one chance, if that. In any case, a very nice shot that you should be very happy with!
The drying cormorants pic has a watercolor effect on the background. You might want to go surrealistic with that and enhance the whole image with a watercolor effect filter!

A very nice series, Soubhik. I also like #1, but #2 is a fine shot as well, and the pose of the bird in #3 is very comical.

Soubhik, I am drawn to #3 with the prinia on the lilies (although #1 is very nicely composed also). My suggestions for this image would be to reduce the highlights, very slightly reduce the saturation of yellows, and increase contrast and midtone contrast.

I agree with Don on the first image. I would like to see a little more detail in the shadows. While using a flash is not an option at this point, I think you can make this shot pop a bit more by making some careful edits with the Shadow/Highlight adjustment.

My favorite photo is the third one with the water hyacinths. I love the environment of leaves surrounding the bird in this image. Doug's tips echo my own feelings about possible further edits to the shot, especially bringing down the highlights somewhat. Nicely done!

This is a fine series, Soubhik! I like each and every one of them. Glad you got to get away from it all and I'm real glad you shared these with us.

These are awesome, Soubhik--glad you were able to grab some shots on your trip! I agree with the suggestions, you might also consider cropping some of 1 & 2 to put more emphasis on the birds. :wavey:
