Did a 3 1/2 day workshop this past weekend put on by Todd Caudle and Jerry Greer (great class - which I'll comment on more in a separate post) in the San Juans. Saw this scene on the way home and raced up 285 to a turnout half way up Kenosha to get. I think it would have been better a little lower to capture where the rays hit the ground, but at the time I was thinking win in doubt go higher. I think I should make it a touch warmer but open to suggestions.
The rays and the clouds are very sharp and nice looking. I wouldn't make it warmer. I went back to that Mt. Sneffels view from the Dallas Creek road tonight and again there were to many clouds......
Wow Lance, that's excellent! I don't mind the rays not being seen hitting the clouds, this way adds a lot of mystery. My only nit -- and it's the ONLY one -- is that the trees in front of the bottom of the rays look over-sharpened. Either that or my eyes are playing tricks based on just having woken up.
It was great having you along last weekend! We'll talk soon.

Very nice. Looks like a few dust bunnies in the clouds to clean up, though.

Thanks Todd. I had it set to high sharpening on export so that is entirely possible.
Craig, I think I had some rain spots on my filter. I removed about 3 or 4 earlier and posted and saw another right after that. I'll need to go back through.
Van - I think we need to camp for a week in that spot to catch a break. It was great to meet you and Jane. Hope to see you again sometime.
What a great catch! 'When in doubt, go higher'...words to live by.
I assume the haloing around the trees may be from compression if it doesn't appear on the full res. version.
