Just tried to use my flash and it appears stuck in the Remote mode. I tried changing the mode but its not responding. Changed to fresh batteries and still no luck. Anyone have this problem and know of a solution?
The short set of directions I keep as a Note on my iPhone says:
To return to default settings press and hold the two buttons for "mode" and "on/off" simultaneously, until the LCD display returns to the TTL non-remote display.
I hope that helps. I seldom put my SB-800 into remote mode and can never remember all the steps required.

Glad to help. This is a nice feature of the SB-800 (and the rest of the Nikon flash line) but the implementation of the user interface is not intuitive. From what I've read Nikon did much better on the SB-900.
