A bit chirpier than the last one!
Thanks for the comments on my last post everyone. :wavey:

I popped out today to give the new lens another test, this time on the local avian population. It was difficult to get the exposure right on the white parts of many of the birds. The lighting was extremely variable today.

Techs: Canon 7D, EF300mm f/2.8L IS USM II with 1.4x extender III. ISO 400, 1/250th sec, f/5.6, aperture priority mode, -0.33 EV. Tripod, gimbal head and hide. Imported with ACR and processed in CS5, slight crop from left and right hand sides.

Thanks for looking, c's and c's welcome as usual. :wavey:

Hi Paul, the lens is certainly resolving plenty of detail and you have handled the whites beautifully. Cropping is always personal but I think a landscape crop might suit the pose better but I realise the twig layout might make it tricky to know where to crop to. Some off the top and a little off the bottom might be a good compromise (my usual request to my barber!).

Hi Paul as Nick says that lens produces great detail, must admit i would not no where to go with the cropping but it does look ok to me,nice image of a so called common bird.

Tend to agree with nick re crop, but such clarity, and the whites look good, maybe common birds but they are not easy to photograph being very small and fast :toast: :toast: :toast:

Plenty of plumage detail, especially on the large version. Whilst I agree with Nick about the crop it is difficult to judge if you don't know what other twigs were there.
