Tree climbing mallard
Not been around for a while for various personal reasons but I'm hoping to get back into the swing soon. This is a shot I took a few months back of a mallard drake which was some 4 to 5 feet up a tree.

Hi Robert, good to see you back matey! Never seen a mallard in a tree image so a first for me. Its neck is all puffed out is that a threat thing or is he scared of heights I wonder?

Nick. :toast: :toast: :toast: :toast:  :wavey:

It isn't as unusual as you may think. My first proper job on leaving school was in Dorking, Surrey. The ducks on the town millpond regularly nested in trees. It was not, of course, as usual to see a drake in a tree as it was a female. Interesting behavioural shot though.

There were a male and female on my neighbour's roof a couple of weeks ago. Not seen one in a tree though. Welcome back. :wavey:

Have you been putting bread in the branches

Near me we have a annual battle between a couple of geese and a pair of ospreys over a nest site on top of a tree
