Gentoo Penguin
I'm on my way to Texas to visit my parents and hopefully, I'll get time to photograph some birds. On my way out I thought I would post a photo from my Antarctic adventure as I'm starting the process of sorting and putting together a presentation about the trip. So I decide to post on of the more fun images from the trip.

Gentoo Penguins have an interesting behavior. The adults will feed the chicks and then for a second or third course they make the chicks chase them for more food. I saw this behavior several times and worked very hard to record the behavior, I think this capture catches the spirit of it. As we sailed by some of the colonies at a distance you could see this occuring, quite an interesting behavior. It is not as sharp as I would like.

I go this image my laying on my belly (for those of you that have been to Ronge Island or similar place know how that smells!) and waited a while for the birds. I only have a single image of this behavior.

Perfect angle on that shot!
Great story! How long did it take for your nose to recover?
I'm looking forward to your trip report.

As you head to Houston, I'm returning to Denver.
Have fun with the gators at Brazos.
The chicks at High Island are getting big.

Amazing image Scott! I think you captured what you described perfectly. You should be able to sell a few of those. Well done! Thanks for sharing it with us.

Thanks for the comments. I'll be working on the the trip report.

I have tons of raw files to convert. I'll get to it once I return from Texas - hopefully the rain will stop tomorrow.

Very cool, Scott - love the playful look of the young ones. I'd say it was worth enduring the smell. Looking forward to seeing more from the trip!
