Layers (Volcanic, that is...)
Finally made it back out to Steelhead Falls, but the place was crawling with swimmers and divers, so I cast my lens skyward instead. Fairly abstract for me, but does it work???

Canon 7D with 24-105mm L
ISO 100, f/10, 1/200s, 73mm

Marylynne, you may want to try lightning the blue in the sky just a touch. Seems just a tad dark. I love the stratified layers you captured. Lots of basalt layers intermixed with outwash gravels and pumice or volcanic ash. Where is this area?

Thanks, Phil. The blue was not adjusted in processing, but if it looks unnatural, I can lighten it or reduce saturation a tish. The area is the Steelhead Falls Wilderness Study Area. It's in Central Oregon just west of Terrebonne. The falls are beautiful too.

Marylynne - this has some strong graphic qualities that I like, and I think it works as an abstract. I don't have strong feelings about the sky. If it were more of a 'landscape' than an abstract, I can see wanting to back off a little. But as is, I think it works.
