Don't Eat the Bears!
Came upon this bear early this evening near a friends house. It had climbed up a pine tree to get to some berries. When I downloaded the images I zoomed in on the ear tag (see second image) and to my surprise it read "DO NOT EAT IF HARVESTED BEFORE ________". Anybody know what that is all about?

May have been recently captured/drugged for tagging. The tags look pretty new.

Yeah, bears in this area get tagged as "nuisance" bears, I was baffled by the "DO NOT EAT IF HARVESTED BEFORE ________" part.

They don't want somebody ingesting tranq residue and coming at them with a lawsuit.

We also have to uphold our constitutional right to arm bears

I'm considering getting one of those tags for my ear. Do you think bear and mountain lions can read?

Too funny, Erik!

Scott, that B&W is exceptional! :toast:
